A Small thought for the New Year 2013!

My Dear Friends,

On the last day of the year, when with 'Damini' the 'anger' inside all of us has been laid to rest till another similar case take place which leads to mass protest, I wanted to provoke a small thought.

All of us felt her pain and felt ashamed for being a part of the society which we live in and the country we belong to. But we should also not fail to realize that we make the society and often we indulge in creating similar embarrassing situations for people around us. As the 'stronger sex' in the society which most of us find ourselves to be, let us all look into our own souls and try to find out that one situation in our days at college, in classes, while travelling in public transport, as a part of a cheap crowd, when we have bullied a lady teacher or a 'hot' girl or 'just anyone', passed lewd comments on her, stared at her till she felt ashamed and regretted of being born as a female, discussed something about her which we would never let others to discuss about our relatives/sisters/girlfriends. Let us rewind and replay. I am sure most of us (boys) would have indulged in it in some way or the other. Let us realize that by these small things that we do 'just for fun', we are actually gradually deshaping the society, flawing the very thought process, misguiding the very way our society is supposed to function! We have somewhere, in someway, lend our hands to make the 'fairer sex' the inferior ones around us.I also urge you to realize that we, as men of the 21st century would not be tagged macho or strong just by smoking, boozing and partying night long! If we want to be the ones to lead the society, we need to realize that 'the leader protects'. Let us not shrug our shoulders by thinking that 'I am not involved if I havent done it!'. Think once, if you would think the same way if the female being teased was your own sister/relative/girlfriend.As men of the times when 'Damini' died because one of us was frustrated of his physical capabilities, we all are, in someway or the other responsible for it and many other such cases which could not get medias' attention.

 Let us, in our own concision realize it! Let us repent and decide that in the new year, may it be a start of a new society. A society which cares and not suppresses. A society of gentlemen and not of road side romeos. A society which loves and not exploits and forces.Let us create a new era where men raise hands for female and not on them! Let us all wake up! Let us all realize that we have created and will continue to create many small time 'Daminis' everyday if we dont change.
